POSITION SUMMARY:

Democracy Fund is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IT Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for democracy and protecting democracy with the use of technology. Democracy Fund is a technology-centric organization focusing on systems that allow the organization to work more collaboratively. In this role you will have responsibility for the customer support, interface integration, configuration, enhancement, testing, and troubleshooting for systems including, but not limited to: Okta, Adaptiv, Fluxx, Zoom, Intacct, and Slack.

This newly created role requires an individual adept at focusing on multiple projects, who is a natural problem solver and has a willingness to learn in a fast-paced work environment. The ability to work and explain solutions to people with all levels of IT knowledge will be crucial to your success. The IT Administrator will join the Operations team, playing a critical role in developing systems and processes that make our IT functions more efficient, nimble, and responsive to the evolving needs of a growing organization.

This position will report to the Senior IT Administrator.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Coordinator’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

DAY TO DAY SYSTEMS

  • Collaborate with the larger Operations team to support day to day IT needs associated with onboarding/offboarding, maintaining staff phones and computers, video conferencing, IT security, and software management.
  • Install, configure, service, and maintain information technology systems, in both a stand-alone and client-server environment.
  • Install, configure, service, and maintain hardware and software for network services.
  • Install and troubleshoot Mac hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot Zoom video conferencing software and other AV issues. 
  • Integrate multiple information systems, evaluate and resolve customer information system problems, ensure required hardware upgrades and repairs to maintain mission capability.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and working in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment, especially as it relates to adapting to evolving technology.
  • A+, MacOS knowledge preferred certification or preferred abilities.
  • Must be able to learn and quickly adapt to evolving technology, including mobile devices.
  • Basic level of experience troubleshooting LAN and WAN.
  • Must have familiarity with Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite of products as it relates to maintaining user accounts, and profile management required.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively on technical issues.
  • Strong organization skills, the ability to perform work either independently or as part of a team, and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines are essential. This position requires the ability to lift 40+ lbs.

TEAM MEMBER

  • Success working in diverse team environments, demonstrating shared responsibility and accountability with other team members.
  • Contribute to team administration and processes.
  • Serve as a liaison between the IT team and other Democracy Fund departments.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Deep passion for strengthening American democracy
  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of IT experience required, including knowledge of encryption and SSO tools.
  • Must have at least one of the following certifications: CompTIA A+ or Apple OS certified Tech.
  • Expert knowledge of LAN and WAN, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Microsoft 365 suite, and Zoom video conferencing is a plus.
  • Willingness to work with leaders, advocates, and media from across the political spectrum required.
  • Be a team player with the ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively.
  • The position is based in Washington, DC.
